Mountain bike tours
Dear aQi bike fans!
Together with the biking professionals Hannes & Heinz of U.P.! Outdoor Experience (www.up.or.at) in Ramsau/Dachstein we are offering this summer a number of guided mountain bike tours. In addition to the great range of more than 20 well signposted routes around the sporting region of the Schladming-Dachstein the following weekly guided tours are available:
Tuesday, 9.00 am
Tour 1: Bergknappe tour Obertal/Rohrmoos
Route: 25km
Altitude difference: 400m
Time: 2-3 hours
Skill level: easy
Fitness level: easy
Off we go from the aQi Hotel in Schladming through the urban section of Schladming in the direction of Talbachweg. Passing through the wildly romantic Talbach gorge we come to the lower valley. From there we bike further upwards to the upper valley, where we reach our destination ”Die Schmelzöfen“ (the furnaces – a mining and nickel museum). After a visit and some refreshments in one of the pristine Alpine chalets we head back down to Schladming on the other side of the Talbach.

Wednesday, 9.00 am
Tour 2: Rittisberg tour
Route: 24km
Altitude difference: 550m
Time: 2-3 hours
Skill level: easy
Fitness level: medium
From the Alpine Ederstube snack bar in Ramsau we head off in the direction of Ramsau, passing the ski jumps and along Philosophenweg to the Ramsau Vorberg district. Parallel to the lower Ennstal we get to south side of the Rittisberg along forest and meadow tracks. From there we circumnavigate the Rittisberg, where numerous mountain chalets and wonderful views await us. After a short rest its off again back to our starting point.

Friday, 9.00 am
Tour 3: The classic tour – Dachstein south wall
Route: 23km
Altitude difference: 800m
Time: 3-4 hours
Skill level: medium
Fitness level: medium to difficult
From the Alpine Ederstube snack bar in Ramsau the route takes us along single trails and gravel paths on to the Türlwand cabin, where we reach the highest point of our tour (1700m). After a fast-paced descent we reach our next high point of the tour – the ”Neustatt Alm“. Biking through the breath-taking mountain scenery of the Dachstein south walls we reach Bachlalm (rest stop) at an elevation of 1500m. After dropping down a 3km long descent the journey then takes a casual attitude back to the starting point.

Bike & Fly
Meeting point: Ederstube snack bar. A really special type of adventure: conquer the Rittisberg on a bike with your own pedal power and then enjoy a fantastic tandem paragliding flight. Take in the tranquillity and the view from the mountain when no chair lifts are operating and only the occasional hiker is en route.
