The Planai cable lift company is actively involved in the renaturation of the skiing area. As the first »green cable car company« it practises consistent recycling and integrated waste separation.
Back in the 1980s the company started long-term plant tests to develop its own alpine seed mixtures specially suited for grassing over the slopes. The Planai and Hochwurzen slopes are now green throughout.
As part of the eco-auditing which started back in 2002 all procedures were investigated as regards their environmental compatibility – from the water quality of the Enns, to the breeding behaviour of the snow grouse, and to the plant diversity at 1,800m above sea level. Nowadays the Planai-Hochwurzen lifts exceed by far the required EU standards.
