Hello there!

Schladming and its surroundings is not only where I come from but it is also the place where I spend my free time as a sportsman, nature-lover and gourmet.

In winter just as much as in summer the region of Schladming-Dachstein offers a great variety for holidaymakers. 1,000 kilometres of hiking tracks, 500 kilometres of cycling and mountain biking routes, running and Nordic walking tracks, 2 golf courses, via ferrata, opportunities to go rafting and canoeing, archery, paragliding as well summer skiing and cross country. The Dachstein with its “Sky Walk“ and the new ice world has a viewing platform at a height of around 2,700 metres above sea level.

I grew up on Planai mountain, directly on the slope. Holidaymakers here in my home area can also take advantage of the 4-peak ski resort, fun on the slopes for all the family. 223 kilometres of pistes, 109 lifts and an abundance of huts provide unlimited skiing enjoyment. And gourmets have long known that this region equates with a culinary trip through the traditional Austrian cuisine. The new après ski centre in Schladming with the biggest ski hut in Europe is a real invitation for everyone to have a proper social get-together.

These and more are all reasons why we will be holding the Alpine ski world championships here in Schladming in 2013. And this makes me very proud.
